About Us

We are a Southern Baptist church that loves Jesus, loves people, and believes the Gospel still changes lives. We’re looking for someone who can lead students toward Christ, help our church sing like we actually believe the words, and occasionally survive a lock-in fueled entirely by pizza and Mountain Dew.

This is a full-time ministry position for someone who is passionate about discipling students, leading worship, serving the church family, and building relationships in the community.

We are not looking for a celebrity. We are looking for a shepherd. Someone called, gifted and anointed for this position.

Position Summary

The Youth & Music leader will oversee and lead the student ministry (middle school through high school) while also leading and coordinating the music ministry of the church. This person should be able to move comfortably between planning a worship service, teaching Scripture to teenagers, recruiting volunteers, and figuring out why the sound system suddenly stopped working five minutes before church.

The ideal candidate is spiritually mature, relational, reliable, teachable, dependable, and able to laugh when things get chaotic.

Responsibilities

Student Ministry

  • Lead and disciple middle and high school students.
  • Plan and teach weekly youth services/Bible studies.
  • Organize youth events, camps, retreats, mission trips, and outreach opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with students and parents.
  • Recruit and train volunteers who genuinely love teenagers and youth ministry.
  • Encourage students toward spiritual growth, Biblical literacy, and active church involvement.
  • Be present at important student activities when possible (ballgames, performances, graduations, etc.).
  • Create a ministry culture that is biblical, welcoming, and Christ-centered.

Music Ministry

  • Lead congregational worship during church services.
  • Coordinate music for Sunday services and special events.
  • Work with musicians, singers, sound techs, and volunteers.
  • Help plan worship services alongside the pastor and church leadership.
  • Select biblically sound, singable music that encourages church participation.
  • Manage rehearsals with both grace and punctuality.
  • Expand the worship team by training those who are talented but not yet involved.
  • Giftedness and confidence to lead Spirt led and empowered worship.
  • Plan a structure for services but be flexible enough to change as led by The Spirit.

General Ministry Expectations

  • Support the overall mission and ministries of the church.
  • Participate in visitation, outreach, and church events.
  • Maintain a consistent personal walk with Christ.
  • Work well with church staff, volunteers, and church members of all ages.
  • Handle ministry responsibilities with integrity, humility, and professionalism.
  • Be flexible when ministry inevitably gets messy.
  • Be strong in faith whilst having a great sense of humor.

Qualifications

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and service to Him.
  • Agreement with Southern Baptist doctrine and the church’s statement of faith.
  • A clear calling to ministry and a heart for discipleship, equipping and worship.
  • Experience in student ministry and/or worship leadership is preferred.
  • Ability to teach Scripture faithfully and clearly.
  • Musical ability sufficient to lead congregational worship vocally and instrumentally.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to connect with both teenagers and senior adults without causing either group to panic.

What We’re Looking For

We want someone who:

  • Loves Jesus more than platform ministry.
  • Loves students and invests in them consistently.
  • Understands worship is about participation, not performance.
  • Leads with both conviction and kindness.
  • Is teachable, dependable, and servant hearted.
  • Believes ministry is about faithfulness and fruitfulness and not fame.

Compensation

  • Full-time salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Conference and ministry training opportunities provided where needed.
